Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist?

A registered dietitian nutritionist or “RDN” is someone who possesses a bachelor’s of science degree in the area of nutrition science from a 4-year accredited institution. A RDN also must be accepted into and completes a 1,200 hour professional supervised practice dietetic internship from an accredited health care system or academic institution. RDN’s also must pass a national registration examination and complete a minimum of 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years. Many RDN’s also hold graduate level degrees in nutrition or other disciplines as well. The term “nutritionist” is a general term that is not mandated and can be held by anyone. RDN’s must complete rigorous coursework, a set number of supervised practice hours, and maintain a set number of continuing education credit hours in order to hold our professional credentials.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I do not take insurance for my services. Upon your request, I can provide you with information from our visit(s) called a “superbill” to submit to your own insurance provider for possible reimbursement. However, I cannot guarantee that our visits will be reimbursed by your insurance provider.

How does virtual nutrition counseling work?

Virtual nutrition counseling allows me to meet with you face to face while you are in the comfort of your own home (perks- it is more convenient and no traffic getting to and from an office). It is very similar to a typical visit with a RDN, but we are not meeting physically one on one. I use a HIPAA-compliant virtual health platform that allows us to video chat securely.

What if I am not ready to schedule an appointment with you yet - can we talk first?

Absolutely! I offer a free ten minute discovery call that you can request to book here. On the call we can talk about what you are looking for or needing from our sessions together and we can see if we are a good fit to work together.
